Saturday December 21, 2019

My father passed away Saturday. He had a PhD in psychology, worked with kids in Australia, taught in Korea, Japan and other countries, and worked at the Department of health for many years.
But I will remember him as a father that dressed as "Mr. Surprise Man" every night for many years to give us comics if we were in bed on time, that got us McD cones as a treat, played the stock market game with us whenever we wanted, and took us to Tilt every week and gave us a couple bucks to play video games.
He was generous and happy and people loved talking to him wherever he was. I was lucky enough that he let me take care of him during his battle with ALS. He is now traveling the universe with Mom.

Hat 270

These buttons were so cute, I had to make a bright looking hat to go with them!

Hat 269

The buttons on this hat are a bit more subtle.  Since the hat is a bit busy, I put the buttons on as a sort of surprise when you look at it.

Hat 268

Since I got a bunch of different adorable buttons, I wanted to make a garden theme hat with them.  I made some blue sky and then used fuzzy yarn for the grass!  I almost kept this cute hat, but decided it's so cute I had to give it away!

Hat 267

Light blue yarn with a couple of different baby yarns together make a pretty simple beanie!  My sister commented how she wishes she liked wearing beanies because then she could steal this hat!  Luckily she isn't a hat person or I'd have to lock up my hats when she's around!

Hat 266

Quick DC hat with a brown yarn paired with a variegated yarn! I always like hats with 2 yarns, it makes it look interesting.

Hat 265

Adding a little fall color to a hat!  Plus a couple cute little buttons!

Hat 264

I had some light brown variegated yarn and I had some dark brown variegated yarn so I just did them in stripes to give a little contrast.

Hat 263

Sometimes you just want to make a nice black and white hat!

Hat 262

Cute little Elf hat with some pretty buttons!

Hat 261

Hat 261!  Just a easy sideways hat with some Variegated yarn and cream yarn!  I realized after that I made it super long, but since you can flip the brim, doesn't matter too much.

Hat 260

While in the mainland I picked up some Country Loom Yarn by Loops & Threads when I went on one of my Michael's yarn sprees!  It's so pretty and soft and I've been sort of saving it to make something for someone, but decided it would make a great hat! I wish the big craft stores wouldn't charge so much to ship to Hawaii!  It's usually more than the price of the yarn, so the great deals turn out to be not so great.

Hat 259

As usual I have to have a few hats in the Lion Brand Homespun yarn because it's just so soft!  I tried to add a little buttons and edging to this to make it look a bit like a flapper hat.

Hat 258

I have a lot of this yarn since I planned on making a blanket for a friend's wedding gift.  After I started it, I thought it might not really be his style at all so now I have a bunch of this yarn for hats!

Hat 257

Had some more of the feathery yarn from a friend so added a little to a simple hdc hat!

Hat 256

Yesterday I went and dropped off all my hats at the Chemo ward! Also brought the nurses some Manapuas that they could  snack on. Now i have tons of other projects to finish before the end of the year!

Hat 256 is just a basic beanie hat.  I added some cute buttons and tried to make little crocheted stems, but couldn't get it to look like what I wanted.  It's still cute, but I still want to figure out another way of doing something similar.

Hat 255

Simple Beanie!

Hat 254

I have a friend that loves doing crafts until she gets bored.  She took up crochet for a little while and made a couple things until she got tired of it.  This left her with a slight yarn addiction and she'll sometimes buy yarn that is cute and fun, really soft or with the thought of making things!  Eventually she'll realize it's just gathering dust and I get to be the lucky person that benefits from her addiction!
This hat was made with one of her yarns, and I paired it with some regular yarn because I wasn't sure how soft it would be by itself.

Hat 253

Hat 253!!  I had this yarn forever and had no clue what to do with it.  I finally figured, I'll just make a fun silly little hat!  I'm not sure if anyone will like this hat, but I just know that I do!  I had this yarn in white, so I actually made myself a similar hat because I thought it was so cute silly!  Looking at it now, it looks like a tribbles so I guess it's my Star Trek Tribble Hat!

Hat 252

Black hat with the last of a really pretty red and blue yarn I've had for a while.  Add a few buttons and done!

Hat 251!

Most of my hats are made with a HDC this year and I don't think I used any patterns. Simple hat that gets a boost from cute buttons!
