Hat 143

This is Lion Brand's Vanna Choice yarn in Denim mist and Seaspray mist.  The design on the yarns make the hat looks like it has a bit of texture.

Hat 141

Hat 141 is the Easy Sideways Hat by Lion Brand yarn using 2 strands together.  I used Red Heart With Love yarn in Deep Blues and Pewter. The result came out much better than I expected!  I think I'll try adding the Pewter yarn to some other hats I make to see if it give it that same shimmer like look.

Hat 140

For hat 140 I used Bernat Baby Soft yarn and Homespun yarn.  Since the yarns were chunky i used a DC stitch so it wouldn't be too hot to wear.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today I'm heading to the hospital to drop off my 25 hats and some scones for the nurses!  Happily I was able to finish my quota in time!  Happy Birthday Mom.

Hat 139

My New Year's Resolution for this past year was to learn knitting.  I had tried learning through online and books but I just wasn't getting it.  A friend also wanted to learn so we took a class at a local Yarn shop called Yarn Story.  This was my first piece and hat I made using knitting.  Though I like the look a lot, knitting takes much longer than crochet so not sure how many hats I'll be knitting in a future.  Maybe just a couple here and there for fun, but in general I think I'll stick to crochet.

This hat was knit using Vanna's Choice yarn in Seaspray.  I think I like the color for this particular yarn better in knit than crochet.  The brim I crocheted on because I hadn't mastered anything other than basic knitting skills at the time.

Hat 138

For hat 138 I used Vanna's Choice Yarn in Autumn and Espresso in DC and HDC stitch.  This hat looked so cute when I tried it on, that I made an exact duplicate for myself!

Hat 137

I used some Vanna's Choice yarn for hat 137 along with some soft pretty pink fuzzy yarn.  This year I tended to make most of my hats a little bigger than usual.  I'm hoping I didn't make them too big!

Hat 136

For Hat 136 I used Vanna's Choice in Autumn and Kelly Green with a HDC stitch.  I love how the colors go together to make it a nice Fall Season looking hat!

Hat 135

Hat 35 is the Lattice Hat pattern by Rhyeatheylia in Red Heart's With Love yarn.  I had made the previous hat but the pattern was a bit confusing for me.  I wanted to make another hat so figured I'd try the Lattice pattern since it was similar.  I definitely love the look of the Lattice hat and will probably make some more later on down the line.

Hat 134

Happy Thanksgiving!

This Lattice Hat I actually made for my cousin, but it turned out to be too small for her.  I was thinking about taking it apart to reuse the yarn on a new hat, but I couldn't do it since it's just too pretty! I used some Turkish Variegated yarn for it and used the Diamond Ridges Pattern by Kristy Ashmore on Ravelry (need acct).

Hat 133

Simple striped Beanie using Red Heart's With Love yarn in Fruit Punch and Soft Touch yarn in Pewter.  Nothing big or special but I really do like the colors together.

Hat 132

Hat 132 was done all in Vanna's Choice Yarn by Lion Brand with a HDC stitch.   Last Christmas a secret santa got me a Caron Embellish-knit machine and after spending a while learning how to make the rope then trying to coax it into a flower, I added that to the hat.  My husband says it looks like a child's drawing of a flower, but in a good way.  I think it's kinda funky and thought I'd keep it on the hat.

Hat 131

I've always got to do a couple hats in Homespun yarn since it's so soft and the colors are always so beautiful.  Hat 131 is a simple hat with HDC stitches in Homespun Yarn.  I'm not sure of the color since I got it a while back and I think it's discontinued.

Hat 129

Just a simple bucket hat made with some wool yarn I had.  All done with a HDC stitch.

Hat 128

Hat 128 made with some white yarn that has a shine in it.  It's a bit holey, but think it will still be very pretty to wear.  I added a flower so the hat would't be so plain.

Hat 127

Hat 127 is a simple beanie done with some extra Homespun yarn I have.  It's always hard for me making hats out of homespun, but they come out so soft that I always want to do more!

Hat 126!

So it's been a while since I've been working on so many projects.  I was able to do a few hats here and there but have not met my goal yet.  I still have a couple months, so I should be good.  Hat 126 was done with 2 strands of Caron Simply soft yarn with a HDC stitch.  I wanted to make the colors to be like a Hawaii sunset over the ocean.  Not sure if I totally got what I was picturing in my head, but I'm still happy with the hat.

Harry Dresden Dolls

My husband is part of a Dresden Files film group and worked on the Skin Game trailer for the newest Jim Butcher book.  We flew to Denver for the Comic Con where he was in a panel with the group for the trailer.  I decided to make little amigurumi dolls for each of the main characters that were in the trailer for fun and hand them out. For a pattern I re-purposed Pixelated Mushroom's Mini Doctor Who dolls and it worked out perfectly!

More Hats for Family!

So I went to Massachusetts during the first couple weeks of June and had a great time.  Here are the rest of the hats I made for my family!

The first 2 hats I made for my Aunt and Uncle.  Both are from patterns by Kathy Lashley at Elk Studio.  The first is the Hounds tooth hat and the second is the Mystic Beanie both made with Caron one pound yarn.  After showing off the Mystic Beanie to Matt he commented on how it looked great on me, so I may make another one for myself sometime.

Next I made a hat for my cousin using some of the Turkish Variegated yarn I have.  The first one I made using the Diamond Ridges pattern by Kristy Ashmore on Ravelry (need acct). The pattern was a bit confusing and in the end turned out a little small.  So I had another ball of yarn in a different color that I personally liked so tried again but used the Lattice Hat pattern on Rheatheylia.  That one was much easier and turned out a little larger.  Since the pink one didn't fit my cousin I will be either taking it apart to re-use the yarn or buying some new yarn to make a Lattice Hat.  I haven't decided yet.

Hats for Family!

I'll be headed off to Massachusetts to visit family this week and I made a bunch of hats to give out. All were made using patterns I found.

My cousins have twin girls and a little boy all under 3.  I made the twins the Valentine Kitty Hat by Knot Your Nanas crochet and the little boy I made the Sly Fox Hat by Lisa Gutierrez on Good Knits.  They were all done in Caron Simply soft and I think they are very very cute!
