Hat 38

Hat 38 is made with the same yarn as hat 35. The Lion Brand Homespun Yarn in Painted desert. After making a comfort shawl with it and then that other hat, I still had some left over so made a quick DC hat out of it. The colors are much nicer than I could get a picture of and it's nice and soft. Even though homespun is a bit hard to work with, I always like the results.

Hat 37

This one started out as a little beanie, but I had the frilly yarn that matched the blue I was using so well that I decided to make it a little more girly. I'm think I used a HDC stitch on it. Not positive, but it sure looks like it from the picture. Either way, cute little summer hat.

Hat 36

Hat 36! This one took me a while for no real reason other than I kept putting it down since I wasn't sure what color to put with the green. Finally settled on a brown and white yarn I had a little left of. The green is the Caron Simply Soft Eco yarn that I tend to use a lot of. I didn't use a lot of the brown and white since it wasn't as soft as the green yarn.

Happy Mother's Day!

My mom was a avid gardener. Growing up we just had our little lanai, but she filled it with all types of plants. Since she's been gone, I've tried my best to keep her plants going, which is hard considering I did not inherit her green thumb. I've lost a few plants, but in general, the lanai is still pretty full. Every time a new flower comes up, I think of her and how happy she was in her little Lanai garden. Here's some of her flowers that are in bloom today on Mother's Day.

Amaryllis , one of her favorites.

Hat 35!

Here's hat 35 for my mom done with Lion's Brand Homespun Yarn in Painted Desert and Barley. I had done a Comfort Shawl for a friend in these colors and had a few extra scraps which I made into this slouch hat. It looks a bit holey since I used a DC around the bottom there, but I think it'll be okay since the yarn is pretty thick, and in regular light you can't really see the holes as well.

Hat for Friend

Here is a hat I made for a friend of my Dads that was visiting. The pattern used is The Popcorn Classic Hat from Free Vintage Crochet. I have used the pattern before in Hat #11 though in that one I didn't actually do the popcorn part but just used a poofy yarn. I had thought of doing the same thing but I've never done a popcorn stitch and wanted to try it out. The yarn used is Vanna's Choice by Lion Brand Yarns in White and Sapphire, though the popcorn part I used Denim Mist.

Hat for Auntie!

I've been taking a little break making hats for mom to make hats and things for other people. I'm still working on a couple more items then it'll be back to hats for mom again.

Here's a hat I made for my Aunt. My mother in law lives with her in California and since it was a pretty cold winter (for Cali) and they go camping often, I wanted to make it nice and warm. This hat was made with Lion Brand's Thick & Quick yarn and I used a HDC stitch throughout so it would have that pretty pattern that I like.

Hat for Mom-in-law

Here's a hat I did recently for my mother in law that lives in California. I used the Lion Brand Homespun yarn and surprised myself by just using a single crochet throughout the whole hat. I've used the yarn before and had problems, but I guess I'm getting the hang of this whole crochet thing. I made it a bit long so she can either turn it up or pull it down to cover her ears on those cold nights when she goes camping.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Made a bunch of bunnies to give away to friends. White ones made with Vanna yarn and the colored bunnies made with Caron Eco yarn! Pattern from Lion's Brand yarn site - Amigurumi Bunny. I need to buy me some of those craft eyes, my bunnies turned out a little too oriental. Anyway, I love their cute little puffy pom pom tails.

Hat 34

Hat 34 is one of my favorites. I used a HDC stitch on the hat and with the yarn used, I thought it came out beautifully. I think I'll start using that stitch a lot more on hats because I just find it so very pretty. The yarns were pretty different from each other, so I was a bit worried in the beginning. It wasn't until the middle of the hat I finally figured out that they went together well.
