Hat 57

So I'm a bit hooked on joining yarns together. It makes the work go so much faster and I love the looks of 2 different yarns twined together. Here on hat 57 I had a very pretty pastel yarn and paired it with some Caron simply soft eco in Natural. I especially love joining yarns with the Caron simply soft line since I always found it to be slightly too thin but always loved how soft it felt. Whole hat done in a HDC stitch.

Afghan for Auntie!

I started working on this afghan over a year ago and got most of it done before I ran out of yarn. I bought the yarn, but never got back to working on it again until a year later. Finished it up and sent it to my Aunt Janice for her birthday in January. The pattern for this is "Wind Chime Afghan" and can be found over at Lion Brand Yarn. Though I did like the colors for it in the original pattern, blue is my Aunt's favorite color so used Vanna's Choice Yarn in White, Sapphire and Denim. I just realized now that I didn't do the edging around it, so I guess next time I visit her I can bring along some yarn and finish it up.

Hat 56!

Happy Valentine's Day! Here is hat 56 for mom! Simple hat using a HDC stitch and just some Caron simply soft eco in Chocolate and some pretty white yarn that has a slight sparkle and texture joined to form a neat design with a little bit of shine. I was able to make this hat rather quickly because of the joined yarn and I really like the way it came out.

Hat 55

For hat 55 I used 2 different yarns held together for the top. The colorful one was a puffy ball yarn I had and I just held it with a Vanilla Caron Simply soft yarn. I ran out of the color yarn so just finished it up with the Caron yarn on the bottom. All done with a HDC stitch.

Hat 54

Hat 54 is light and very soft. For this hat I used the same yarns that I used in Hat 30. I still had some of the soft dark blue yarn left and I loved the way Hat 30 looked, I figured I'd make another with the same colors. The whole hat except the brim has my Bamboo yarn and I just twined it with the darker yarn to make the stripes. All done in a HDC stitch.

Hat 53

So here we are with Hat 53. On the top is just a poofy type yarn I had in my stash and twined with some light grey yarn. When I ran out of the poofy yarn I just traded it for some Caron Simply Soft yarn but in blueberry to match the top part. I like the effect of the blue and grey together on the bottom, makes the blue look like it's shining in some areas.

Hat 52!

Hat 52 was done pairing 2 different strands of yarn. The first one was just some Caron's simply soft eco in natural and I paired it with some yarn that was brown with small little green, orange and brown puffs.I ran out of it near the end, so finished it off with just the natural. I'm glad I ran out since I think it looks great this way. All done in a HDC stitch as usual.

Hat 51 with the New Year!

A new year begins, and with that, a new batch of hats! Here is Hat #51!! The top yarn is my fav Bamboo yarn and the bottom is Lion Brand's homespun yarn all done with a HDC stitch. I made it extra long in case you want to cover your ears or flip it up. So soft and comfy that I'm thinking about making another just for me.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday, so I went and dropped off my hats at the Kaiser Chemo Ward. Dropped off 21 hats in total plus some chocolate bread from Zippys for the nurses. When I got there I noticed that there were a bunch of hats by the door. The nurse told me that since last year when I dropped off hats, people have been making and dropping off hats also! That is very awesome. I think now I'm taking a small break from hat making and gonna make a afghan or something big. Haven't totally decided yet.

Hat 50!!!

Made it to hat 50!! Yay!

So this yarn is the Michaels' Impeccable yarn that I picked up while in Massachusetts. I tried pairing it with other colors and re-started it about 4 times until I realized I liked it by itself the best. I made a cute little bucket hat out of it with just a simple single crochet stitch. I love the pattern and the colors on this hat. I have a couple more patterned yarns that I got there which I can't wait to try.
